Taqueria La Mexicana in Half Moon Bay

Just smashed some awesome grub here with the family. Its not one of the over priced places on the beach. We got a little bit of everything. Fried chicken, burger & fries, chips & salsa, burritos & tacos. Everything was amazing and at amazing g prices

Awesome people working here making screaming good California Nachos (over the hill we call it MEATY fries). Best way to end the day.

Food is dynamite, and the service is friendly. The fried chicken is the real deal, and lots of beer selections. Why 3 stars? Cleanliness. Two stars worth. That's saying something. I'm no germophobe, and sometimes a little funk is part of the charm, but this place looks like it doesn't even get a cursory wipe-down at the end of the day. Don't not go there, but maybe get your food to go. If the napkin dispensers creep you out, avoid the restrooms at all cost.

The chicken was dry..and there was a hair on it...the shrimp cocktail was way too sweet like they put sugar in it...only thing that was good was my bottled Sprite..

This taqueria offers a lot more than just tacos! I've tried several plates including their French burger which was my favorite for a while until they changed the bread they use to make it... Still delicious. They offer burgers and nuggets for kids, their breaded shrimp plate is to die for, for late snack I always go to their Nachos! I prefer to take out, but you might have to call more than once to place your order if they are packed. You have to try their fried chicken at least once, and make sure to try their salsa, you have to ask for it, it's awesome!

Juicy, crispy chicken dipped in homemade salsa, refreshing simple salad & a huge fresh squeezed orange juice. Server & cook were full of smiles & gracious. We'll definitely keep this on our list of favorite coastside stops!

I had the carne asada quesadilla...very good!

A buddy and I had their famous fried chicken. It was every bit as good as we had heard. If you like crispy chicken, I'd highly recommend this casual place with a friendly staff.

This place has one of the best fried chicken. The red sauce on the side gives it some extra flavor. They get busy and the order may take long but it's worth the wait

Whatever happened the the “la Mexicana” that I have grown to love. Still a good place though.

Was good, but believe its good fried chicken kind of like eating at home. More seasoning would be good but a spot that i would go back to if im ever in half moon bay. The salsa is delicious and not too spicy.

Tourists go to Tres. Locals go to La Gallina or Happy Taco.Everyone mentions the chicken (which is great), but their French Burger is one of my favorites as well.

It wasn't really bad, but the reviews give it way more hype then it deserves. The burrito was tastier then next door, but they don't use as high quality of steak. Fried chicken was ok.

This place is awesome. Authentic Mexican & American food. Old school drive in style. TV & jukebox too. Very nice people, good prices, can't ask for much more.

Food is so good and inexpensive!! Very friendly staff and you can spot an occasional cowboy come by and eat with their horses.

This place serves as my lunch spot for my semi-frequent bicycle rides down from San Francisco. Comes at just the right time, as my hunger starts to kick into overdrive as I pull into Half Moon Bay. I haven't had the fried chicken, but I reckon it's time to give it a whirl. The burrito satisfies every time though. The aguas frescas are yummy and delicious.

Food was really good! Staff was nice. Tostada was great, hard taco was great, wet burrito was great! Chips and salsa bar was also really good in taste! Food tasted very fresh. I didn't see fried chicken or burgers on the menu like in the other reviews. Prices were good. Restaurant was busy but that tells me their food is good! Great place, I plan on stopping in on our next vacation :)

I just started picking up food from this restaurant. The guys that work there are great. They are Covid-19 safe. I've tried the many items on the menu. Burgers, fries, tacos(beef, chicken & fish) and have enjoyed it all!

The food is delicious here at this little hole-in-the-wall taqueria.
